If using 5-gallon bags, place inside buckets; if using 1-gallon bags, I like to place them in a large plastic tote to avoid spillage. • Fill bags. I use a quart jar as a scoop so that I can ensure I get an even amount of food in each bag. • Heat iron or impulse sealer. • Open O2 absorbers and quickly put the required amount in each container, dump the rest in mason jars, and seal. • Seal each bag, either using an impulse sealer, an iron and the bag clamp from the previous project, or the edge of a board.
To wash, all I do is add a few articles of clothing to the bucket, about cup of my handy homemade liquid detergent, and about 1 gallons of water to the bucket. Insert the plunger, and then lock on the lid. I push the plunger around the clothes for a minute or 5, then dump the dirty water, add clean rinse water, and repeat until the rinse water comes out clean. If you want you could add bluing to the rinse to whiten your clothes. I don’t do this right now, but I have some just in case this becomes my primary method of washing clothes.
